Spanish Coast: Best Beach Towns In Spain

Marbella

Marbella is one of the most famous summer vacation spots in Spain and it’s easy to see why. This town has it all – a beautiful old town colored white and lined with floral bushes, idyllic black sand and calm water beaches, and some of the best accommodation options around!

Where To Stay In Marbella

Casa La Concha, a charming beach house located in the hills of Marbella. It isn’t your typical beach resort, instead it is a Bed And Breakfast that caters to those that seek to unplug and live a healthy lifestyle. Breakfast is served every morning in the patio right by the house kitchen. It consists of a delicious array of baked goods (hello croissants!), fresh fruit, granola, eggs, teas, and juices.

Cádiz

Puerto Sherry is a beautiful marina with some small beaches nearby to enjoy the hot summer sun. It’s a great place to relax for a few days, work on your tan, and enjoy the beautiful views of the marina.

The next morning I headed to Hotel Puerto Sherry’s outdoor restaurant for breakfast.

Where To Stay In Cádiz

I strongly recommend Hotel Puerto Sherry. They have a great outdoor restaurant for breakfast where they serve it buffet-style with tons of variety of hams, breads, fruits, and pastries. They also have a hot-plate station where a chef can cook up a variety of breakfast items like scrambled eggs, tortilla de patata, crepes, and pancakes!

I served myself a bunch of fruit, made a tortilla de papata and veggie sandwich, and finished things off with fresh-squeezed OJ and green tea. Having breakfast with a view of the marina was a perfect way to start the day!

There are lots of cute cafes and restaurants on the boardwalk and a nice beach towards the end. Definitely worth a stroll!

Valencia

Valencia is the 3rd largest city in Spain, yet feels the most home-y. Even though this was my first time visiting Valencia I immediately felt at home and like I had been there many times before.

Where To Stay In Valencia

Hotel Malcom & Barrett is located near Russafa – a hot spot in Valencia. This is where I would go to have lunch and dinner as it has many traditional and trendy cafes. Malcom & Barrett is also very close to the City of Arts and Sciences, a must-see when in the city. The historic center was also within walking distance and is so worth the visit!

I loved getting lost in the winding little streets and finding cute cafes and markets to explore. Be sure to not only try Paella while in Valencia but also some Horchata – a traditional drink from Valencia.

Overall my time in Valencia was spent walking around the city, trying out nice cafes, and sight-seeing.

I had a great experience in the city and would love to come back to explore more of it! I think this is a city that is best to not only sightsee, but actually live it like a local. Add it to your Spain itinerary!

Sitges

Sitges is a popular getaway spot for residents of Barcelona. Since it’s so easily accessible by train or car, it makes for a great add-on destination if you’re visiting Barcelona.

Sitges town is very lively and is full of tourists, locals, and a very LGBT-friendly community. I loved the overall vibe of this town and also its picturesque streets, quaint restaurants, and views of the cathedral.

Where To Stay In Sitges

While in Sitges I stayed at the beautiful Hotel MiM. This hotel is centrally located and just steps from the beach. My suite was stunning, with a huge bed, beautiful decor, a luxurious tub (goals!), and an ocean view. I had probably my best night’s sleep while staying at Hotel MiM. Maybe since I was at the beach all day or because the bed was so comfortable. I think it was a mixture of both. Food choices are plenty here, btw!

Apart from the luxurious rooms, Hotel MiM also features a rooftop terrace with a pool to be used during the day, and a bar at night. The views from the terrace are impressive and it’s always full of beautiful people.

There is also a spa that guests have complimentary access to for 1 hour a day with their stay. There you can enjoy a second pool, sauna, hot tub, etc. I also had breakfast included with my stay which I really enjoyed. The hotel’s restaurant offers a variety of traditional breakfast choices as well as some Spanish items.

When I arrived in Sitges, I checked into Hotel MiM and then headed out to the beach for a few hours. After getting a deep tan, I headed back to Hotel MiM to get cleaned up. Later I went to explore the town and cathedral until sundown. That night I also wandered the streets for a bit checking out the nightlife and had dinner at a yummy Indian restaurant.

If you’re traveling to Barcelona I definitely recommend you making a stop in Sitges for a night and checking out Hotel MiM. Neither will disappoint!
